Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

As you may already know, there have been several changes to Suds & Stitches in the last few weeks. This is a quick recap of what’s been happening, where we’re going, and how we plan to get there. Grab a cup of coffee and get comfy!

We’ve separated the non-beauty products in to it’s own company called Heat Wave Designs! This is where everything from t-shirts to coffee mugs to mouse pads can be found and customized. If there’s something you want that we don’t currently have, drop us a line and tell us what you’re looking for; we’ll see what we can do to help you out. Check out some of the great things we’re offering …

In addition, Old Fashion Soap Co., has some changes, too.

I came very close to closing Old Fashion Soap Co., for good. In fact, I even announced the closing. But then I had people contact me and ask me to consider. This is what I’ve worked out.

I will continue to make soaps, but on a reduced basis. That doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll be offering fewer soap varieties, but it does mean that the batches will be smaller and that I might not have everything in stock all the time. I will accept custom orders for full loaves, and you can request a soap on back order. Back ordered soaps and full loaves may take up┬áto 30 days to ship.

All wholesale orders will now be based on full recipes; I won’t be fulfilling those orders based on individual bars effective immediately. I’ve sent the details to my wholesale customers, but if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. If you haven’t yet set up an account on my website, please let me know when you do so I can set it to a wholesale account type.

Also, I’ve updated the shipping on my website to charge actual cost instead of flat rate (Yay for WooCommerce fixing their shipping plug in!). Until I started doing an analysis of where I needed to fix things, I didn’t realize just how much I was subsidizing most of the shipments that I was sending. If you order a single bar of soap, or even two bars, you should be able to choose First Class Shipping rates that will be much lower than the Priority Mail option. And in my experience, it still arrives pretty quickly.

At this point, I don’t intend to do any more shows. I just can’t see how I can do them alone, but I might do some limited shows during the fall depending on how things go.

And finally, I want to thank everyone who sent me words of encouragement and who asked me to find a way to keep selling soap. Your support means everything to me, and I hope that this new arrangement works out to benefit everyone. Please let me know if you have any questions!
